Asking Around the Globe
Our colleagues share what’s recently been happening at their place of work.
U.P. Sriganesh, Head of the Rhein Chemie BU, LANXESS India, on the expansion of the Rhenodiv® line and CEO Matthias Zachert’s visit to India:
“Thanks to the successful expansion of the Rhenodiv® production line in Jhagadia, the Rhein Chemie BU has increased its production capacities to meet the growing demand on the Indian subcontinent and to serve the Asian tire and rubber markets. The new Rhenodiv® grades are currently undergoing approval tests at the tire manufacturers. This is an important step in ensuring product quality and market readiness. We expect to receive full approval by the end of the second quarter. We also have plans to expand our product range outside India. CEO Matthias Zachert’s visit here in India highlighted the strategic importance of the region for LANXESS. It was an honor to have him with us. We are proud and delighted that he believes in the enormous potential of the Indian market. We look forward to further expanding our presence in this dynamic and promising market.”
Katherine Down, West Hill Plant Manager in Toronto, Canada, LAB BU, celebrated Earth Day with her team on April 22:
“Environmental protection is an extremely important issue for us here at our site. That’s why we have once again come up with a series of activities for this year’s Earth Day. In addition to a clean-up and garbage collection campaign around our plant, we are very proud to have broken ground for our approximately 1,500 square meter “pollinator garden” – together with our Labor Director Frederique van Baarle. In the new space, we will convert open areas to make them bee-friendly so that the pollinators can find food and a habitat. Protecting bees is something of a tradition for us – we have had our own beehives on our factory premises for several years now, which are managed professionally by a beekeeper.”
Martin Niehof, Strategy Consultant, DEV GF, on the renewed inclusion of LANXESS in the CDP climate action initiative’s “A List,” a ranking of companies by their environmental performance:
“The fact that we rank at the top of the ‘Climate’ category for the fifth time in a row shows what an amazing team we have driving sustainability at LANXESS. I am proud to be a part of it. Everyone is aware that, as an extremely energy-intensive industry, we can also be a major force for greater environmental protection. So for me, it’s great to work for a company that is really leading the way and setting standards. Especially as a father. Our outstanding performance in this ranking underlines our role as a credible partner for the development of sustainable products. For example, a leading tire manufacturer recently invited us – as the only chemical company – to engage in a dialogue and thus create the basis for a partnership.”
