“Net Zero Custom Manufacturing” is the name Saltigo has given to its approach to supporting its customers even more when it comes to the production of sustainable products. In order to meet the needs of as many industries as possible and to develop individual production concepts, the BU has established an interdisciplinary sustainability team. The focus here is on the use of sustainable energy and green raw materials. Net Zero Custom Manufacturing also involves calculating the carbon footprint of the entire value chain. The Product Carbon Footprint Engine developed by LANXESS will be used for this purpose.

The team from the PTSE and IT Group Functions, which developed the Product Carbon Footprint Engine, has reached another milestone: the tool used to calculate the carbon footprint of products has been successfully recertified by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with DIN ISO 14067. To this end, the reporting format was adapted to the guidelines of the Together for Sustainability initiative – the leading standard for the chemical industry. “This required making a number of technical adjustments to the system and expanding the amount of data collected,” says Anna Schröder, Project Manager at PTSE. “We are proud to have implemented the new reporting format. This means that our tool will play an even more important role in marketing our products in the future.”
