Saved: 76,000 tons of carbon emissions

El Dorado, Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. A new agreement with the energy supplier Entergy Arkansas will significantly improve the carbon footprint of purchased energy at the El Dorado and Little Rock sites (both in the US state of Arkansas). At the three plants operated by the Polymer Additives business unit in El Dorado, indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 2) will be reduced by 82%, and at the Rhein Chemie business unit’s plant in Little Rock, by as much as 100%. “This agreement is an incredibly important step for us towards reducing our emissions and becoming climate neutral by 2040,” said Board Member Frederique van Baarle.

Together with a contract from 2022, which has already led to a reduction of 10,000 tons of carbon emissions at the El Dorado site, it now saves a total of 76,000 tons of carbon emissions. According to statistics from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this annual reduction is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 10,000 households.

“This is a tremendous milestone for our facility in Arkansas. We will continue to explore similar programs and new technologies with our utility providers across the US to achieve our ambitious sustainability goals,“ said van Baarle.
