LANXESS Hosts the Fourth PASCH Future Rallye

Empowering students in workplace exploration
The fourth PASCH Future Rallye took place at the LANXESS office in Shanghai in the mid of April, attracting the participation of twenty German and Chinese students. This collaborative education initiative with the Goethe-Institute in Beijing aims to provide students with insights into the workplace and the chemical industry, fostering a deeper understanding of business dynamics and enhancing intercultural communications.

Michael Rockel, Country Representative for Greater China, extended a warm welcome to the students and offered an introduction to LANXESS as a multinational company in China. Through his presentation, the students gained comprehensive insights into LANXESS’ corporate history, business layout, and sustainable development strategies and practices.

Ulf Dressler, Head of Corporate Communications APAC and India Region, set out to give an introduction into the inner workings of corporations. He likened a company to a sophisticated machine, emphasizing the importance of viewing the organization holistically and understanding key drivers such as cash flow, profit, assets, growth, and people. Grasping this broader perspective, he said, will help the students be successful in their future careers.

During the PASCH Future Rallye, a team of volunteers from various roles within the company guided students through different aspects of the workplace. These included Michael Rockel and Greater China CFO Bosten Li, who joined the volunteer team to offer firsthand insights into their respective roles and engage in direct communications with the students.

Education is the Light on Development
As a German chemical company with a strong presence in the Chinese market, LANXESS has always been committed to promoting Sino-German cooperation in the field of education. In 2011, LANXESS and the Goethe-Institute China, the German Cultural Centre in Beijing, launched the “LANXESS-Study-Bridge” Scholarship Program. In 2013, LANXESS and Goethe-Institute China launched the "LANXESS-PASCH Dream Career Program", which provides outstanding students with the opportunity to take up an internship at LANXESS China. In 2021, LANXESS deepened its cooperation with Goethe-Institute Beijing by launching the "PASCH Future Rallye" program. This program uses professional workplace training and offline company visits to lead the younger generation to explore diversified careers and help them clarify their future career dreams and plans.

Also in April, LANXESS has been honored with the "Social Responsibility Excellence Award" at the "Responsibility, Openness, Sharing" CSR Case Study Awards 2023, presented by Shanghai Daily. This award recognizes the positive impact of the company’s diverse educational programs in collaboration with the Goethe-Institute in areas such as the promotion of vocational education and creative awareness among young people.
